Wealth KYC Document Redaction with anonym.plus

Clear customer data from a know-your-customer file before you share it.

KYC document redaction is the removal of personal data from a customer identification file under the BSA (31 CFR 1020.220). That rule sets the Customer Identification Program. anonym.plus marks each identity field on your device, so the file's structure stays while the data goes.

When this applies

A know-your-customer file holds an ID copy, an address, and a tax number. You trim that data under the CIP rule before an auditor or partner sees it.

How anonym.plus handles it

  1. Open the file in anonym.plus on your device.
  2. Local OCR reads a scanned passport or ID image.
  3. The tool flags name, ID number, and address.
  4. Confirm each flag on the image pages.
  5. Swap or black out the marked items.
  6. Save the clean copy locally.

Limitations & cautions

OCR on a faint or skewed ID scan can miss a digit. Check the flags on low-quality images. The CIP record must be retained per the BSA; redact only the copy you share.

Frequently asked questions

What is the BSA Customer Identification Program?

Under 31 CFR 1020.220, a firm must verify and record each customer's identity. The tool removes that data from a copy you need to share, not from the retained record.

Can it redact a scanned passport?

Yes. Local OCR reads the image first, then flags the number and name so you can black it out.

Does the file leave my machine?

No. The app works offline, so identity data never reaches the cloud.
