Terms of Service
Please read these terms carefully before purchasing or using anonym.plus.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the anonym.plus desktop application ("Software"), or by purchasing a license, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Software.
2. License Grant
Subject to payment of the applicable license fee and compliance with these Terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to install and use the Software on the number of machines permitted by your plan:
- Free: 1 machine
- Basic: up to 3 machines
- Pro: up to 3 machines
- Expert: up to 5 machines
Licenses are personal and tied to your account. You may not sublicense, sell, rent, or transfer your license to another party.
3. Permitted Use
You may use the Software for lawful personal, professional, or commercial purposes including document anonymization, PII redaction, and GDPR compliance workflows. You may not:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software
- Use the Software to process data you are not authorized to handle
- Circumvent machine-limit enforcement or license verification
- Redistribute the Software or make it available as a service to third parties
4. One-Time Payment & Refunds
All licenses are sold as one-time lifetime payments — there are no recurring subscriptions. Prices are in EUR and include applicable taxes where required.
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you are not satisfied, contact support@anonym.plus within 30 days of purchase for a full refund. After 30 days, payments are non-refundable except where required by applicable consumer protection law.
Payment is processed by Stripe or PayPal. By completing a purchase you also agree to the payment processor's terms of service.
5. Digital Content Disclosure (EU Directive 2019/770)
anonym.plus is digital software supplied under the EU Digital Content Directive (2019/770). You acknowledge that by downloading and using the Software after purchase, the right of withdrawal under EU consumer law is extinguished in accordance with Article 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU, except where the 30-day money-back guarantee above applies.
6. Updates & Future Versions
Your license covers the major version purchased (e.g., v9.x). We provide free updates within the same major version. Future major versions may require a new license at a discounted upgrade price. Security patches are always provided free of charge.
7. Privacy & Data Processing
The Software processes your documents locally on your machine. No document content is transmitted to our servers. Account registration and activation require minimal personal data (email address, machine fingerprint). See our Privacy Policy for details.
anonym.plus is a data controller for your account data (Art. 4(7) GDPR). It is not a data processor under Art. 28 GDPR with respect to the documents you anonymize — those documents are processed exclusively on your local machine and are never transmitted to or accessed by us. No Art. 28 Data Processing Agreement is required for use of the desktop application.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Software will detect all PII or that anonymized output will satisfy every regulatory requirement in every jurisdiction.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the Software shall not exceed the amount you paid for your license in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
10. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Disputes that cannot be resolved amicably shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Amsterdam, Netherlands, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rights under the law of your country of residence.
11. Consumer Information (Art. 246a EGBGB)
The following pre-contractual information is provided to EU consumers in accordance with Art. 246a EGBGB and Directive 2011/83/EU on consumer rights:
- Essential characteristics: anonym.plus is a desktop application for offline PII anonymization of documents, images, and text. It runs locally on Windows, macOS, and Linux. No internet connection is required for document processing.
- Total price: Prices are displayed inclusive of applicable VAT on the pricing page. One-time payment; no recurring charges.
- Payment and delivery: Payment is processed via Stripe or PayPal. The license key and download link are delivered electronically to your registered email address immediately after successful payment.
- Minimum duration: No minimum contract term. The license is perpetual and valid for the purchased major version.
- Right of withdrawal: You have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the date of contract conclusion. This right is extinguished once you have downloaded and started using the Software, in accordance with Art. 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU, because the Software is digital content supplied on a non-material medium. We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee (see §4 above) that exceeds the statutory withdrawal right.
- Functionality and interoperability: The Software requires Windows 10/11, macOS 12+, or a supported Linux distribution. It does not interoperate with third-party cloud services for document processing. Technical protection measures include license-based machine activation.
- Complaint handling: Contact support@anonym.plus or use the contact form. We respond within 2 business days.
- Out-of-court dispute resolution: We are not obligated to participate in out-of-court dispute resolution procedures and do not voluntarily participate in them. The EU Online Dispute Resolution platform is available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
Consumer statutory rights (including warranty rights under §§ 327 ff. BGB for digital products) apply in addition to these Terms and cannot be waived by contract.
12. B2B / Consumer Rights Distinction
If you are purchasing as a business customer (i.e., acting in the course of your trade, business, craft, or profession — Art. 2(2) Directive 2011/83/EU), the statutory consumer protection rights referenced in §11 above do not apply. In particular, the 14-day right of withdrawal and the mandatory consumer warranty provisions do not apply to business purchases. The 30-day money-back guarantee in §4 applies to all customers regardless of status.
If you are a consumer (natural person acting outside the scope of any trade, business, or profession), nothing in these Terms limits or excludes your mandatory statutory rights under applicable consumer protection law.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify active license holders of material changes by email. Continued use of the Software after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance.
