Mission
anonym.plus exists to make document anonymization accessible, secure, and practical. We believe that protecting personally identifiable information (PII) should not require trusting a cloud service with your most sensitive data.
Our desktop application processes everything locally on your machine — no uploads, no cloud APIs, no internet required. This isn't just a feature; it's a fundamental architectural decision that shapes every part of the product. Law firms, healthcare providers, HR departments, and researchers handle sensitive documents daily. They deserve a tool that gives them control without compromise.
Privacy is not a product feature. It is a design constraint that guides every technical decision — from choosing a local NLP engine over a cloud API, to storing encryption keys in an offline vault rather than a server database.

I have been building enterprise software since 1998. Over the past 28 years I have worked as a security consultant, system architect, and software developer — specialising in data protection, compliance automation, and secure document workflows for European businesses.
anonym.plus was born out of a recurring frustration: clients needed to anonymize sensitive documents for sharing, litigation discovery, or regulatory reporting — but every available solution required uploading data to a third-party cloud. I built anonym.plus to solve that problem in a way I would trust with my own clients' data.
Every line of code is written with the same standard I apply when advising clients on ISO 27001 certification and GDPR Article 25 (Privacy by Design) compliance.

Privacy by design
Documents never leave your device. The PII detection engine runs locally. Encryption keys stay in your vault. We can't see your data even if we wanted to.
Zero knowledge
Your password never leaves your browser. Only cryptographic proofs are sent to our server. We use Argon2id key derivation and AES-256-GCM encryption.
Transparency
We publish our security architecture, threat model, encryption specifications, and a detailed changelog. No black boxes.
Offline-first
The entire anonymization pipeline works without internet. Account sync, updates, and model downloads are the only features that need connectivity.

Jurisdiction
anonym.plus is developed and operated from the European Union (Germany). Our server infrastructure runs on ISO 27001-certified Hetzner data centers located in Germany. We are subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and committed to data minimization, purpose limitation, and privacy by default.
We implement GDPR Article 25 (Data Protection by Design and by Default) as a core engineering requirement — not as an afterthought or compliance checkbox.
