Invention disclosure anonymization is the removal of personal data from an internal idea form. Once it is truly anonymous, it is no longer personal data under GDPR Recital 26. anonym.plus does this on a local device and keeps the technical idea intact.
When this applies
A disclosure names the inventor, their team, and a manager. To circulate it for review without a legal basis, make those details anonymous first.
How anonym.plus handles it
- Open the form in anonym.plus on a local device.
- The tool spots inventor, reviewer, and contact IDs.
- Swap each one for a non-reversible label for true anonymity.
- Keep no name map if you want the file outside scope.
- Save the clean copy on your device.
What you need to provide
- The file (DOCX, PDF, TXT, or form export).
- Replace, with the reversible map turned off for full anonymity.
- Optional language setting for German, French, or other tongues.

Limitations & cautions
True anonymity is a high bar. If you keep a reversible map, the file is pseudonymous, not anonymous, and stays in scope. A rare idea tied to one small team can hint at the author even with no name. Weigh that risk first.
Frequently asked questions
Anonymous or pseudonymous — what is the difference?
Pseudonymous output keeps a key that can re-link it, so it stays personal data under GDPR. Anonymous output drops that key for good. Only then does Recital 26 take it out of scope.
Does it handle non-English forms?
Yes. The tool reads 48 languages. That matters, since names and date formats differ by tongue.
Can I share the idea without consent?
Truly anonymous data is no longer personal data, so GDPR consent rules do not apply. You must be sure the result cannot be reversed.
