Workplace injury report redaction is the removal of personal data from the records an employer keeps under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. The Act sets the general duty to record and manage harm. anonym.plus marks names, conditions, and contacts on your device, so the account stays useful while people are shielded.
When this applies
An injury write-up names the affected person, the condition, and any witnesses. You trim those details before the file is shared outside the safety office.
How anonym.plus handles it
- Open the report in anonym.plus on your device.
- Local OCR reads a scanned accident-book page.
- The tool flags names, conditions, and contacts.
- Confirm each flag and keep the case reference.
- Swap or black out the confirmed items.
- Save the clean account locally.
What you need to provide
- The injury write-up (PDF, DOCX, or scan).
- An operator (Replace keeps the account readable).
- Optional batch for several reports at once.

Compliance achieved
- Backs the general duty in HSWA 1974 s.2(1) and, where a contractor or visitor is hurt on site, the duty to non-employees in s.3(1).
- Recognises the accident book kept under the Social Security (Claims and Payments) Regs 1979 as a record separate from the RIDDOR report: completed entries are taken out and stored securely, so one worker cannot read another's.
- Keeps the factual core that can later support a claim for industrial injuries benefit under SSCBA 1992 s.94, which turns on an accident arising out of and in the course of employment.
- Flags witnesses as well as the injured worker, because a copy released on subject access must not adversely affect the rights of others (UK GDPR Art. 15(4)). Offline work keeps the file on your machine.

Limitations & cautions
An incident account often holds indirect clues, like a rare task or area. The tool flags named items but cannot judge every unique detail. Read the narrative before you release it.
Frequently asked questions
Should I redact witnesses too?
Often yes. People named in the account can be identified. anonym.plus flags the worker and witnesses so you decide what to mask.
Can I clean several reports together?
Yes. Batch mode handles up to 20 files per local run, with OCR for scanned pages.
Is the data sent anywhere?
No. The app is fully offline, so the account stays on your device.
