Cap table de-identification is the removal of holder PII from an ownership schedule. Some of that data is already on a statutory record: a public company that serves a CA 2006 s.793 notice must enter the answers in the register of interests disclosed under s.808, which s.809 opens to inspection. Your working grid usually holds far more. anonym.plus strips the surplus and keeps the counts, classes, and percentages bidders need.
When this applies
A capitalisation table lists every owner, their shares, and their contact data. For a listed target, holdings at 3% and each 1% above are already notified under DTR 5.1.2R, so the split is no secret. The emails, tax references, and payout accounts in your file are.
How anonym.plus handles it
- Open the grid in anonym.plus on your device.
- It finds owner names, emails, and tax or ID numbers.
- Share counts, classes, and percentages stay in place.
- Swap each party for a steady label across joined rows.
- Save the clean grid on your device.
What you need to provide
- The grid (XLSX, CSV, PDF, or export).
- A column map for known owner fields.
- Replace with a steady label map to keep row links.
PII entity types detected
| Category | anonym.plus entity type | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Names | PERSON | holder_name → [HOLDER_n] |
| Contact | EMAIL_ADDRESS | owner email → [EMAIL] |
| Identifiers | NATIONAL_ID | UTR field → [ID] |
| Finance | IBAN_CODE | payout account → [ACCOUNT] |
| Location | LOCATION | owner address → [ADDRESS] |
| Org | ORGANIZATION | fund entity → [ENTITY] |
Compliance achieved
- Keeps the statutory record whole: CA 2006 s.808 entries stay as filed.
- Trims data that goes beyond a DTR 5.1.2R major-holding notification.
- A kept label map is pseudonymisation under UK GDPR Art. 4(5), so the grid stays in scope.
- Local-only — the ownership data never reaches the cloud.

Limitations & cautions
A small owner set can re-identify by share size alone, even after names go. A 40% block points to one fund. DTR 5.1.2R also means a listed target's larger holders are public already, so masking your copy does not un-publish them. Weigh whether the split itself is the clue.
Frequently asked questions
Are the share counts removed?
No. The counts, classes, and percentages stay. Only names, IDs, and contacts change, so the math is intact.
Does this change the statutory registers?
No. It cleans the copy you circulate. The s.808 register of interests disclosed, and the register of members, must keep the real particulars the Act requires.
Can rows stay linkable after the swap?
Yes. A steady label map swaps each owner the same way, so rows for one party still join. That map is a key, so under Art. 4(5) the output is pseudonymous, not anonymous.
