Financial-statement redaction is the removal of PII from accounts and their notes. The people appear there by law: CA 2006 s.413 requires disclosure of advances, credits, and guarantees to directors, and FRS 102 Section 33 (or IAS 24) requires related-party disclosures. anonym.plus runs locally and keeps every figure a bidder must analyse.
When this applies
Statements carry the numbers, but the notes name directors, related parties, and signatories. A buyer needs the figures, not the individuals — and internal management accounts hold far more detail than the version filed under s.441.
How anonym.plus handles it
- Load the accounts into anonym.plus on your device.
- It flags names, IDs, and account numbers in the footnotes.
- The balance sheet and figures stay untouched.
- Swap or black out the confirmed PII.
- Save the clean document on your device.
What you need to provide
- The statements (PDF, XLSX, or DOCX).
- An operator (Replace keeps the notes readable).
- Optional allow-list to keep accounting terms.

Limitations & cautions
Accounts filed under CA 2006 s.441 are already on the public register, so masking your copy does not un-publish them. Related-party notes can also hint at one person by their nature: a lone director loan of £50,000 stays traceable once the reader knows the board.
Frequently asked questions
Are the figures removed?
No. The balance sheet, profit, and notes stay. Only personal data like names and account numbers change.
Why do accounts contain personal data at all?
Because disclosure rules put it there. CA 2006 s.413 covers advances, credits, and guarantees to directors, and FRS 102 Section 33 or IAS 24 requires related-party detail. Those notes are where the names sit.
Does it read spreadsheet accounts?
Yes. PDF and spreadsheet statements both work on your device.
