Employee Settlement Agreement Redaction with anonym.plus

De-identify a settlement agreement so it no longer points to a person.

In simple terms, PII redaction is the on-device process of finding and masking personally identifiable information in a document before it is shared.

Employee settlement redaction is the removal of personal data from an exit accord. A statutory settlement only binds if the conditions in ERA 1996 s.203(3) are met, with the equivalent conditions for discrimination claims in Equality Act 2010 s.147(3); a COT3 reached through ACAS is the alternative route. anonym.plus marks names and account data on your device, so the terms stay clear while the worker is shielded.

When this applies

An accord names the worker, payment accounts, and a release. You strip those identifiers before the record is filed or analysed.

How anonym.plus handles it

  1. Open the accord in anonym.plus on your device.
  2. The app marks worker names and payment accounts.
  3. Built-in OCR reads a scanned signature page.
  4. Keep the operative terms you must disclose.
  5. Swap or black out the confirmed identifiers.
  6. Save the clean copy locally.

Limitations & cautions

Recital 26 treats data as anonymous only if no one can be singled out under the motivated-intruder test, and a unique amount or date can still point to a worker. Redact a copy, never the executed original: s.203(3) and s.147(3) both require the agreement to identify the independent adviser, and a redacted signature page proves nothing.

Frequently asked questions

Can I redact the executed original?

No. Keep it whole. ERA 1996 s.203(3) and Equality Act 2010 s.147(3) both require the agreement to identify the independent adviser, so redact a copy for filing or analysis instead.

Can I keep the agreed amount?

Yes, if disclosure allows. Use the allow-list to keep amounts while names and accounts are removed — useful where the ITEPA 2003 s.403 threshold matters.

Are confidential terms uploaded?

No. The app is fully offline, so the accord stays on your device.
