Production Set Redaction with anonym.plus

Clear PII from a disclosure bundle before you give it to the other side.

In simple terms, PII redaction is the on-device process of finding and masking personally identifiable information in a document before it is shared.

Disclosure-set redaction is the removal of personal data from documents you must hand over. CPR 31.6 sets the actual duty: you disclose documents that support or adversely affect any party's case, not merely everything you hold. CPR PD 31B then fixes how an electronic set is exchanged. anonym.plus marks each PII item on your own device, so that scope and structure both survive the pass.

When this applies

You owe the other side a batch of disclosable files under CPR 31.6. Each one may carry names, account numbers, and contacts that must come out before the set goes over. The CPR 31.10 disclosure statement you personally sign certifies the extent of the search behind the set, so the redaction process needs to be repeatable and defensible, not ad hoc.

How anonym.plus handles it

  1. Open the disclosable files in anonym.plus on your device.
  2. Local OCR reads scanned pages, so it catches printed text too.
  3. The tool flags names, dates, account numbers, and contacts.
  4. Check each flag and clear anything caught by mistake.
  5. Redact, replace, or mask each confirmed item.
  6. Save the clean bundle. The originals never leave your machine.

Limitations & cautions

The tool flags named items well. It cannot judge when a free-text clue, like a rare job plus a town, points to one person. Review such lines. OCR errors on poor scans also need a human check before the set goes out.

Frequently asked questions

Does redaction here meet CPR PD 31B?

CPR PD 31B governs how you exchange electronic disclosure, not how you redact it. The tool strips PII so a disclosable item can go out without exposing third-party data, while the CPR 31.6 duty to disclose supporting and adverse documents stays met, and you log each cut.

Why work locally instead of in a cloud tool?

Uploading raw files to a vendor risks litigation privilege before you have even decided what is disclosable. Local work keeps the data in-house, and it supports the CPR 31.10 statement you sign, since nothing left your control during the review.

Can I clean a whole folder at once?

Yes. Batch mode handles up to 20 files per run, each processed on your own device, which keeps a large standard-disclosure exercise consistent across every file rather than drifting from one file to the next.
