Equipment Return Record Redaction with anonym.plus

Clear a leaver's identifiers from an asset return log before it is filed.

Equipment return redaction is the removal of personal identifiers from an asset hand-back log. GDPR Recital 26 places truly anonymous data outside its scope. anonym.plus marks the leaver and contacts on your device, so the asset and status columns stay usable while the named worker is hidden.

When this applies

A return log ties laptops and badges to one named leaver and their signature. You strip those identifiers before the file is archived with IT.

How anonym.plus handles it

  1. Open the log in anonym.plus on your device.
  2. The app flags the leaver, signature, and contacts.
  3. Local OCR reads a scanned, signed sheet.
  4. Keep the asset tags and condition notes.
  5. Swap or black out the confirmed items.
  6. Save the clean sheet locally.

Limitations & cautions

A unique asset serial or desk can still point back to one worker even with the name gone. The app flags named items. Use the allow-list carefully, and confirm no kept field re-identifies the leaver.

Frequently asked questions

Why redact a routine asset log?

It links one named worker to assets and a signature. Stripping those details lets IT keep the record without identifiable data, per Recital 26.

Can I keep the serial numbers?

Yes, via the allow-list, if a serial cannot single out the leaver. Otherwise mask it too.

Is the sheet uploaded?

No. The app is fully offline, so it stays on your machine.
